Focalboard is an open source project management tool, that focuses on technical teams. It was originally a plugin for Mattermost but since September 2023, Focalboard is a standalone project that is fully community supported and not maintained by Mattermost.

The Product

Focalboard offers a simple interface to manage tasks. It supports a variety of different views like Kanban, Table, calendar and Gallery View. To focus on that is important to you, you can apply and save filter views for quick access.

Real-Time Card comments and mentions are supported on every task card which allows you to easily discuss and collaborate on tasks with your team. Tasks can be tagged with a priority and assigned to team members.

Focalboard can be self-hosted but there is no official hosted cloud version available.
